Our Home Part 4: Family Jewels

Intimacy in marriage is one of the most beautiful things God has given to married couples, yet perhaps one of the biggest areas of conflict and confusion in the home. That’s why Biblical intimacy in marriage must be deliberately sought, directly pursued, and deeply cultivated.

Open: Describe the ideal picture of a Christian woman in the home.

Read: Genesis 3:1-22; Proverbs 31:10-31; 1 Peter 3:1-6

1. Describe the role of the woman before the fall: What does it mean to be a “helper”? In what ways has society pushed against this creative role?

2. What were the consequences given to the woman as the result of the fall? In what ways do you sense the ght for leadership in the home within you as a result of the fall (Genesis 3:16)? Why do you believe this battle, as seen in society’s push against Biblical womanhood, leaves so many women unful lled in their role in the home? How do you see insecurity displayed in women in general today, and Christian women speci cally?

3. Explain how Proverbs 31:10-31 establishes value and identity in your life: How does having an accurate view of value enhance your family role?

4. What are some unique characteristics described in Proverbs 31 of a woman of great worth? Describe how these characteristics should be lived out in the home: Which ones are most dif cult for you? Why?

Pray: Women: Pray that you would bring value to the family that would honor Christ.
Men: Pray for your wife, mother, or future spouse that she would demonstrate the value of Christ in the home.
